The firm assists Oahu building owners in complying with the City & County of Honolulu’s Benchmarking Program. The Better Buildings Benchmarking Ordinance (Ordinance 22-17) requires Oahu building owners to report annually on the following sustainability metrics:

• Site and source energy use intensity,

• Weather normalized site and source energy use intensity,

• The ENERGY STAR® score, where available,

• Total annual greenhouse gas emissions,

• Monthly energy use by fuel type,

• Indoor water use and water use intensity (consumption per gross square foot),

• Outdoor water use (where available),

• Total water use,

• The ENERGY STAR® Water Score (where available).

The goal of the ordinance is to make building owners aware of the resources they consume and allow them to benchmark themselves against similar buildings. Hong Consulting assists clients with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager data input and collection. Additionally, we help generate benchmarking reports from the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager and submit the reports to the Office of Climate Change, Sustainability and Resiliency (OCCSR).

The firm is also available to assist with implementing California’s SB 253: Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act which requires disclosure of a company’s Scope 1, 2, & 3 greenhouse gas emissions. Click here for a link to an article about SB 253.
