Adrian K. Hong is the managing member and principal consultant of Hong Consulting, LLC, a Hawaii-based firm dedicated to guiding organizations through the complexities of sustainability reporting and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) compliance. With a robust background in accounting, experience in compliance with environmental regulations, and experience running a small business, Adrian provides clients with strategic insights into ESG metrics, regulatory adherence, and sustainable growth initiatives.
Alongside his consulting work, Adrian is committed to preparing the next generation of accountants for sustainability challenges. Hong Consulting provides education on ESG matters, helping accountants and professionals build skills vital for the future.
His diverse professional background includes auditing at Berntson Porter, conducting XBRL research for the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), serving as an instructor at University of Hawaii – West Oahu, and being president of Island Plastic Bags, Inc., a family-owned manufacturing business based in Hawaii. These experiences have equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of financial reporting, regulatory frameworks, and educational outreach.
Actively engaged in the accounting community, Adrian holds the position of Vice President on the board of the Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants (HSCPA). In this role, he contributes to the advancement of the profession through outreach programs targeting high school and college students, fostering the next generation of accounting professionals.
Recognized for his expertise in sustainability, Adrian is a Clean Energy Ally with Hawaii Energy, collaborating on initiatives that promote energy efficiency and sustainable practices within the state. His commitment to ESG principles is further demonstrated through his frequent speaking engagements at conferences and workshops, where he educates professionals on the importance of integrating sustainable practices into business operations.
Adrian's dedication to business excellence and community development was exemplified when he graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program (10KSB) at Babson College. The program helps entrepreneurs develop skillsets that take their businesses to the next level.
Adrian holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Washington, and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Hawaii.
